December 11, 2006 – Watkins Manufacturing Corporation, manufacturer of HotSpring®, Tiger River®, Hot Spot®, Solana® and Caldera® spas, was recently awarded the 2006 INSPIRE Award by the Association of Pool & Spa Professionals (APSP). The APSP is the world's largest international trade association representing the swimming pool, spa, hot tub and recreational water industries.
The INSPIRE Award stands for the "Industry Nomination for Spa Promotion and Innovation, Recognizing Excellence." The honor recognizes a company's total contribution, dedication and service to the hot tub industry. Watkins was selected for its focus on innovation and education and its commitment to the industry as a whole, including support of national marketing initiatives.
Watkins annually hosts numerous classes for its dealer network, graduating approximately 900 students each year. The company also provides a variety of print materials, audio, video and CDs to support ongoing training efforts.
Many Watkins employees and its dealers regularly participate in various professional organizations, including contributing to and supporting many NSPI/APSP public relations initiatives. The company is contributing $20,000 and three spas to support the 2006/2007 National Swimming Pool Foundation (NSPF) Hot Tub Immersion Study. And in 2006, Watkins was the first in the spa industry to receive P181 certification from the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) for meeting a comprehensive set of standards that evaluate the overall safety and performance of the entire spa.
"Watkins is honored to be recognized for our technological innovation as well as educational and promotional efforts which have had a positive impact on the spa industry, and ultimately the consumer." said Mike Dunn, Vice President of Sales and Marketing at Watkins.
