HOTSPRING SPAS FIRST HOT TUB MANUFACTURER RECOGNIZED FOR SPA SAFETY BY THE NSF
June 5, 2006—HotSpring® Spas, the number one selling brand of portable spas and hot tubs, is the first brand in the spa industry to be certified by the National Sanitation Foundation (NSF) as meeting a comprehensive set of hot tub standards that evaluate the overall safety and performance of the entire spa.
The NSF is an independent, not-for-profit organization whose purpose is to help consumers Live Safer(TM) everyday. The NSF recently introduced the NSF P181 certification which – for the first time ever – combines hot tub health and safety requirements for circulation, filtration, heating and sanitation of spa water along with material, design & construction, and performance requirements. All certified models will bear the NSF P181 mark to inform hot tub manufacturers, distributors, retailers, and consumers that all health and safety requirements have been met.
"By combining safety and performance requirements for hot tubs into one protocol, NSF P181 is raising the bar in safety," said Keith Harbol, Chemical Engineer for Watkins Manufacturing, maker of HotSpring Spas. HotSpring is proud to be the first in the spa industry to offer consumers the reassurance of owning a hot tub with NSF P181 certification; it reflects our commitment to excellence in hot tub design, manufacturing and quality. By having HotSpring Spas certified to this standard, Watkins has reinforced their position as an industry leader of hot tubs. Our customers can truly feel confident knowing that the spa they are purchasing meets these stringent guidelines," said Harbol.
